It is estimated that nearly 20 million people in across the world were prescribed Accutane to treat their acne. According to recent Accutane lawsuit 2010 information, thousands of lawsuits have been filed against Hoffman-La Roche, the manufacturer of Accutane.

In February 2010 Federal Court of New Jersey awarded Andrew McCarrell, who had his colon removed because of the inflammatory bowel disease related to Accutane usage, more than $25 million in compensatory damages. To there have been more than 1000 claims filed against the company and it has lost six cases. More than $56 million has been awarded to patients, who suffered from the severe side effects of Accutane.
